Job Description

A position as Programmer/Bioanalyst in the annotation group is available at The Genome Center at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The candidate will be part of an established annotation group focused on developing methods and implementing approaches to gene prediction and annotation in prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes.

The candidate’s responsibilities can include, but are not limited to, evaluating and modifying existing gene prediction algorithms, developing annotation assessment tools, developing approaches to further increase the sensitivity and specificity of the gene prediction pipelines through the use of sound validation and comparative procedures, support of the annotation submissions, as well as methods to further enhance the automation of established and developing pipelines.

The Genome Center has been at the forefront of genome research since its inception in 1993. A world-leader in the generation and public dissemination of high-quality genomic sequence, the Genome Center is developing and refining the general theories and practices of DNA sequencing, providing value-added biologically and clinically-relevant sequence analysis, and fostering public understanding of science through various educational and outreach efforts.
