CURRENT ACADEMIC APPOINTMENTS

Research Instructor, 1998 -Present

Group Leader of Darwin Expressed Sequence Tag (EST) Projects, 1999-Present-Currently lead the sequencing effort has supplied ESTs from human and mouse, and is now supplying ESTs from soybean, endocrine pancreas, Eimeria,, Neospora, Plasmodium, moss, 18 parasitic nematode species, Sarcocystis, Toxoplasma, Xenopus, and zebrafish.
Funds for producing hydra ESTs have just been awarded (10/01). (link to EST page)

Group Leader of Small Projects-1998-Present-Directed the sequencing, finishing and annotation of Salmonella enterica var Typhimurium, 8X whole genome shotgun coverage of Klebsiella pneumoniae, along with survey sequencing (4X whole genome shotgun coverage of Salmonella enterica var Paratyphi A. The paper reporting these results will soon be published in the journal Nature. (link when paper comes out) Funds for sequencing, finishing and annotating 2 maize mitochondrial genomes, along with sample sequencing of 3 other maize mitochondrial genomes and an outlier sorghum mitochondrial genome have just been awarded (9/01).
